Connecting Generations

An intergenerational volunteer initiative that encourages young people to give back to their community.

Young volunteers are teamed with adult drivers to deliver meals to seniors and other Meals on Wheels West clients. Meals on Wheels West’s Connecting Generations initiative teams up volunteers from local middle schools, SAMOHI,UCLA, Pretenders Dance Studios and  adult volunteers to brighten the day of Meals on Wheels West’s clients of all ages. Children, teens and young adults learn the joy of giving and to give back to their communities. Clients share their wisdom and the joy they feel from a visit by young people. Friendly volunteers are too often the only visitors Meals on Wheels West clients see.

People can volunteer once a week, once a month, once a year – whatever works for you and your group.  Families, youth groups, schools and individuals join together in Connecting Generations.
