Community Events & Ambassadors
Represent Meals on Wheels West in Our Community
Our Community Events & Ambassadors program gives volunteers the opportunity to serve as representatives of Meals on Wheels West at community events throughout our service area.
From community resource fairs and neighborhood gatherings to festivals and special events, our volunteers are the face and voice of Meals on Wheels West. You’ll help share our mission, talk with community members about the work we do, answer general questions, and let people know about ways they can volunteer, support our programs, or get involved.
You don’t need to be an expert on Meals on Wheels West before signing up. We’ll provide the information, materials, and event-specific instructions you need to represent us confidently.
How It Works
Community events take place throughout the year at a variety of locations and times. Each opportunity will include information about the event, volunteer hours, location, our goals for participating, and any special instructions. Most events will have two volunteer roles:
Volunteer Lead
The Volunteer Lead serves as the primary Meals on Wheels West representative for the event. The Lead may pick up event materials from our office in advance, check in with event organizers, help set up the Meals on Wheels West booth or table, and make sure materials are returned afterward. The Lead also helps ensure the volunteer team has what it needs throughout the event.
Supporting Volunteer
Supporting Volunteers work alongside the Volunteer Lead to represent Meals on Wheels West. They welcome visitors to the booth, share information about our mission and programs, talk about ways to get involved, and help with any activities or goals planned for that particular event.
What You’ll Do
While every event is a little different, Community Ambassadors may:
- Represent Meals on Wheels West and share our mission with the community
- Welcome and engage people who visit our booth or table
- Share information about our programs, services, and volunteer opportunities
- Help with event-specific activities, outreach, sign-ups, or other engagement
- Answer general questions using information and materials provided by Meals on Wheels West
- Help create a welcoming, positive presence for Meals on Wheels West in the community
We’ll Make Sure You’re Prepared
Before each event, volunteers will receive the details they need, including event information, arrival and setup instructions, Meals on Wheels West goals for participating, and information about the materials available at the booth.
You are representing Meals on Wheels West, but you won’t be expected to figure everything out on your own. We’ll make sure you know what to do and have what you need before the event.
